Ozil in line for Arsenal

Arsenal are seen as in advanced negotiations with Real Madrid to sign midfielder Mesut Ozil before the close of the transfer window.

The German international, who only last week indicated his desire to stay at the Santiago Bernabeu, is believed the subject of an initial €45m bid from the Gunners.

Whilst also proposing a further €5m in add-ons, it is understood that talks between the Premier League side and Madrid will continue on Monday, whilst contract terms with Ozil are also proposed.

The playmaker has been in talks with Los Blancos over a renewal these past few months and been seen as pushing for a €2m salary increase up to €7m.

This is a figure that Arsenal are reportedly prepared to match, whilst some outlets in Spain are running the line that the London side’s overall proposal has been accepted in principle by both Madrid and Ozil.

However, Marca believe that the 24-year-old is not interested in the move and he and his father, who acts as his agent, have turned down Arsenal’s offer.

Manchester United have been heavily linked with interest in Ozil this summer also.
