New Monaco midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia has claimed that it would have been ‘a risk’ to join Real Madrid.
The France international was heavily linked with a move to Los Blancos this summer, but opted instead for a switch to the Ligue 1 side from Sevilla.
“They [Real Madrid] asked a question, but they did not meet the conditions for the transfer,” he told L’Equipe.
“But also, additionally, I spoke with some people who know football very well and they told me it would be risky.”
