Lionel Messi has admitted that Barcelona face a difficult group after the Champions League draw placed them with Milan, Ajax and Celtic.

Barca, who have at least made the semi-final stage in each of the last six editions of the tournament, are in a group of past winners of the competition.

“We have a lot of even groups. We’re going to have some really good games,” commented Messi at the UEFA Gala after the draw.

“We’ve already faced Milan and Celtic, and it will be the first time against Ajax. I think it will be a difficult group, like always.

“Barca are obligated to win because of what this Club means. We’re preparing ourselves even though it gets more difficult each year because our opponents get stronger.”

Messi was voted second by journalists present at the event in polling for the UEFA Best Player in Europe Award, which went to Bayern Munich’s Franck Ribery.
