Laudrup hints at Vazquez interest

Swansea City manager Michael Laudrup has hinted that his team are looking at Getafe forward Alvaro Vazquez.

The Premier League side, who have recruited heavily from La Liga in recent transfer windows, are linked with a move for one of Vazquez or Peter Odemwingie.

Considering the choice this week, Swansea’s manager indicated that former Under-21 international Vazquez has caught his eye.

“The only thing I can confirm is that there is nothing near to being done,” reflected Laudrup to the BBC this week.

“On the other hand, when do you know when you are close to a deal? You never know.

“He [Vasquez] is young, a little different and a player I know, he played in Espanyol and now he plays in Getafe.

“He is a younger one, a forward and he can play wide. He has the characteristics we are talking about, like Odemwingie.

“That is why these names come up, because they both fit into the profile that we are looking for.”
