Jagoba Arrasate praised Real Sociedad side for advancing into the Champions League proper, where he promised they will remain true to their style.
La Real defeated Lyon 2-0 in their Play-off round second leg at home, for a 4-0 aggregate win and progression to UEFA’s premier competition for only the second time in their history.
“For us, this is a great joy. We are very pleased,” Arrasate told reporters afterwards.
“This was a play-off that was not simple. We had to progress for the year we had last year and we have succeeded, we endorsed here what we achieved at Lyon last week.
“We struggled to score the first goal, whilst from the moment Vela scored we have been calmer. We knew that they were going to push everywhere in the opening minutes.
“We struggled in the first stages, but then we recovered our football. We kept a clean sheet, which is important, and in the end we have won by two goals. I think we have reason to be satisfied.
“This team has played in decisive games. In both legs the group has become stronger.
“Last season we were getting used to playing in big games like today and so in that sense we were calm.
“In attack we have crucial people, we already knew that. The strength of this team is in the group, but we have people that can score goals in attack.
“But the important thing is that the team keeps to this line, is balanced, and I think that in this game we have achieved that.”
La Real are in pot four for the seeding for the Champions League draw today.
“Yes whoever we play we will remain faithful to our style. We know it will be difficult because all the teams at this stage will be at a high level.
“But we have to play the competition without looking at who our opponent is.
“We have a shape, a style and we want to maintain that in every game, but we know it will not be easy.”
