Monaco activate Kondogbia clause

Reports in France today are that Monaco have launched a bid for Sevilla midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia, activating his buyout clause.

The French international has been linked with a move away the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan through the summer, with a host of clubs across Europe said to have been interested.

However, recent weeks have particularly paired newly promoted Ligue 1 side Monaco with a bid, as they strengthen under Russian billionaire owner Dmitry Rybolovlev.

Sevilla have continued to indicate their desire to keep hold of the midfielder, suggesting that only paying the player’s buyout clause would change the scenario.

RMC Sport indicate today that this is what Monaco have today decided to do, with the French outlet indicate that the principality side will put forward a bid at his buyout level of €20m in the coming hours.

It is understood that Kondogbia will then commit to a five-year deal at the Stade Louis II and that he could be presented as a Monaco player as early as Thursday or Friday.
