Manchester City Coach Manuel Pellegrini is apparently pressurising the club to go in for Atletico Madrid centre-back Martin Demichelis.
Demichelis worked with Pellegrini at Malaga up until the end of last season but like the Coach left La Rosaleda this summer.
Whilst he has only just moved to the Vicente Calderon on a Bosman, speculation in recent days has suggested that Atletico’s hierarchy would be prepared to cash in on any advances made by City.
The English are once more listed in reports today as pushing for the 32-year-old, with Pellegrini believed to be keen for the reunion with the Argentine defender.
With Vincent Kompany the third centre-back at the club injured just one game into the season, it is seen that the Chilean tactician is keen for cover to be brought in and that Demichelis is top of his list.
However, where Atletico have been reported through the past few days as looking for a figure of around €5m, it is understood that City are only prepared to pay as much as €3m.
