Jese Rodriguez enthused at the tributes paid to Raul Gonzalez at the Trofeo Bernabeu match between Real Madrid and Al-Sadd.
Madrid honoured their all time record goalscorer in their annual early season friendly held on Thursday against his current Qatari employers.
Raul played a half for both teams and opened the scoring in the eventual 5-0 win for Los Blancos.
Jese, who came off the bench to net twice in the friendly, paid tribute to the 36-year-old too.
“I am very happy because Raul deserves this,” the 20-year-old reflected post-match.
“He deserves a party like this today and always. From being small I watched him scoring goals and he’s a legend for me.
“It has been an unimaginable dream come true to be near him and I am very happy.
“My first team chances this season? If he fought like he fought, then why can’t I?
“It is necessary to work hard day after day to try and achieve what he has, although that would be very difficult.”
