Diego Costa sat out Atletico Madrid’s training session on Friday morning, but is believed to be in contention to face Rayo Vallecano.

The Brazilian born striker missed today’s preparation work with the rest of the squad struggling with muscle overload.

Whilst it makes him a minor doubt for Sunday’s Week 2 derby at home to Rayo, reports are that he is believed still in contention to feature.

The 24-year-old, who scored twice in Atleti’s League opening win at Sevilla last weekend, worked on the margins in the hour-and-a-half-long session under Diego Simeone, whilst everyone else was involved.
