Enrique: Espanyol’s ‘keeper key

Luis Enrique refused to criticise his Celta Vigo side for letting a two-goal lead slip, instead praising Espanyol’s goalkeeper for his saves.

The newly appointed tactician saw his Galician outfit have Alex Lopez and Charles’ opening strikes cancelled out in the second half of their Week 1 fixture, for a 2-2 draw with Los Pericos.

“I’m not upset. The opponent also did their work for this result,” Enrique mused afterwards.

“Their first goal came during our best moment.

“After that 2-1, we had a few doubts but still enjoyed opportunities to get a third goal that I think would have been definitive.

“The result is fair, though.”

The Coach picked out Espanyol’s goalkeeper Kiko Casilla as responsible for the result. Celta registed twice as many shots on target at their opponents.

“He has been spectacular in many of his actions. He is a goalkeeper of a certain level and his performance has been key in this game.”
