Arrasate targets result in Lyon

Jagoba Arrasate admits that it may be important for his Real Sociedad side to pick up a positive result in tonight’s Champions League meeting with Lyon.

La Real travel out to the Ligue 1 outfit for the first leg of this Play-off round to determine final places in the group stages of the competition proper.

For the San Sebastian outfit’s new Coach, a squad of 21 players has provisionally made the trip.

“We have recovered well from the League game at the weekend, there were certain players somewhat affected but for a game like this, everyone wants to play,” Arrasate enthused in his pre-match conference.

“We are focused on our opponent, they have played four games and have won all four. In games like this you have to take a step forward and be aware of how to compete.

“In a play off it is important to score away from home. This team can win in any field. Lyon are a good team, we know them well, they are a young side that have conceded just the once so far.

“We are both teams that like to have the ball and if not then to be close together. They are very fast, we have to know when to push and when to retreat.

“If there are changes made to the team then they will have little importance, we have a good squad.

“The play off is 180 minutes whilst you have to play two good games. We will not waste time considering if Lyon are favourite, we are focused on us.

“For their budget and history they can be favourites, but we want to continue our dream from last year because our fans, who have supported us greatly, deserve it.”
