Valencia boss Miroslav Djukic said winning the points was the main thing in the hard-fought
1-0 victory over Malaga at Mestalla.
However, the Serbian told gathered reporters he had been disappointed with his team’s showing in the opening fixture of the 2013-14 campaign.
“We were predictable and they cancelled us out because we were not sharp enough and struggled to create any danger, but we competed well,” he maintained.
“We took advantage of a set-piece to score but Malaga only caused us problems with their own set-pieces.
“We were wrong to have played the ball too much down the middle and should have got it out wide more.
“We wanted to do too many individual things and it would have been better if we had simplified things and been less predictable,” he added.
