Atletico Madrid are willing to transfer defender Martin Demichelis to Manchester City for €5m.
The Argentine international arrived on a free transfer from Malaga just over a month ago, but former boss Manuel Pellegrini wants the 32-year-old to join him at City after having no luck so far in prising Pepe away from Real Madrid.
Atleti boss Diego Simeone does not want to lose the player so soon after signing him yet, according to Marca, the club’s hierarchy see it as a chance to cash in on a player they got for nothing.
Diego Godin and Joao Miranda are undisputed first-choice central defenders at the Vicente Calderon, but Simeone is aware he will need all the tools at his disposal as the club enters the Champions League next season.
Right now, it is believed the deal depends on how much Pellegrini wants Demichelis at the Etihad Stadium, given that City now know the price they will have to pay for the player.
