Soldado sets 20-goal Spurs target

Tottenham Hotspur striker Roberto Soldado is targeting at least 20 goals in his debut season at the club.

The former Valencia man joined Spurs during the summer, having notched 30 goals in 46 appearances with Los Che last term, and would like to create a similar impression in the Premier League.

“To give an exact figure is difficult but my aim is to score more than 20 goals, which I consider a good number,” the Spanish international told Reuters Television.

Soldado, who scored his first goal for the Londoners last Saturday in a friendly with Espanyol, is aware it will not be easy to achieve that figure in England.

“It will be tough but with hard work and the support of my teammates then it is possible. The Premier League is more intense than La Liga and the physical side of things harder than in Spain.

“Because of that I want to show my commitment to fight for this jersey in the best manner possible.

“However, the main objective is to qualify for the Champions League and we know how hard that will be because the competition is very strong, but we’ll take things a step at a time.

“We have to try and take three points from every match. It’s the only way to do it so we achieve our aims. We hope to do great things,” added Soldado.
