Moreno ‘proud’ of Madrid link

Sevilla left-back Alberto Moreno says he is ‘proud’ to have been linked with a move to Real Madrid this summer.

Reports in Spain maintain Los Blancos have checked out the Spain Under-21 international as a direct replacement for Fabio Coentrao, should the Portuguese depart the Santiago Bernabeu, although Moreno is currently negotiating an extension to his contract with Los Nervionenses.

“I’m proud Real Madrid are interested but the only thing I’m dedicating myself to at the moment is playing,” he told reporters.

“I’ve still got two years left on my agreement with Sevilla and what happens will happen. I don’t know anything about other teams as that is for my agent. My job is to play football and on the subject of my renovation I’m very happy here.”

Moreno insists his only thoughts are on the season’s opener at home to Atletico Madrid this weekend.

“Of the opponents we’ve faced so far only Manchester United have been strong, the rest were normal teams, but Atletico are a side that is one of our direct rivals.

“If we play as we can we can take something positive from the game. Both of us will be fighting to get into the Champions League or Europa League,” he added.
