Moreno heading to PSV

Hector Moreno is about to leave Espanyol for PSV Eindhoven despite earlier reports suggesting he favoured a switch to Fiorentina.

It was said that the Mexico international would choose Serie A over the Eredivisie as he has already played in the latter, during his time at AZ Alkmaar.

But Sport reports Moreno has accepted PSV’s offer, even though his agent, Mino Raiola, wanted the centre-back to go to Italy.

Espanyol were keen for Moreno to leave this summer as his contract expires in 2016 and it was already known he wouldn’t sign a new one.

The sale also boosts the club’s coffers as Moreno’s rights were 100% owned by Espanyol, rather than shared with a third party.

Sport add Moreno has already said goodbye to Espanyol in advance of his return to the Netherlands, following Kiko Casilla, Christian Stuani, Sergio Garcia and Lucas Vazquez out the door.
