Alba: Barca won’t settle for Liga title

Jordi Alba has insisted that Barcelona will not ‘just settle for winning the League’ this season.

The Blaugrana claimed that Liga title last term, but lost to Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey and Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

And the defender has admitted that his side are hoping for more silverware this term, whilst also commenting on Tata Martino and Lionel Messi.

“No, I wouldn’t settle for just winning the League,” he told Marca.

“A team like Barça has to fight to win every competition it goes in for. We want to win everything – League, cup, Champions League and Supercopa.

“It's true that in the last round of the Champions League we didn't perform well. Bayern steamrollered us.

“It's more or less the same idea [under Tata Martino] as recent years and I don't think we're going to change much in our style or how we play.

“Things are the same at the back and I'm very comfortable. I'm enjoying how we play.

“We're talking about the best player in the world. For us [Messi’s] priceless.

“He's the number one. Nobody else can stand up to comparison and he'll stay number one for as long as he wants.”
