Pepe: I have a contract at Madrid

Real Madrid defender Pepe believes he will stay with the club this season, despite interest from Manchester City.

The Premier League club have been heavily linked with a move for the Portuguese defender.

But the Blancos centre-back is confident he's staying at Santiago Bernabeu, whilst also commenting on Carlo Ancelott and the upcoming season.

“I have signed a contract with Madrid,” he told a Press conference. “My future is an issue for the President.

“I just train hard and try to give my best for the team.

“I am ready to fight for my place. I am delighted for Varane – he is a humble guy who likes to learn.

“The Coach is very close to the squad, and that's a good sign.

“He has great affection for the players. He is also great tactically, and that is helping us a lot.

“The most important thing for us is to start with a win.

“We are just thinking about the first three points.”
