Marcelo: Madrid needed no motivation

Marcelo, scorer of Real Madrid’s first goal in the
3-1 win over Chelsea, said his team needed no extra motivation to lift another trophy.

The Brazilian international set Los Blancos on their way to adding the International Champions Cup to their list of honours with his 15th-minute strike and, despite it being against former boss Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea, insisted afterwards it is always the same when there is a title on offer.

“We didn’t need any extra motivation because we were playing against a team coached by Jose Mourinho. On the contrary, we did it because that is what we do and we wanted to win the tournament.

“It’s a very good way to round off the competition. We are playing well and that’s another reason for satisfaction, no matter who the opponent is and who is sat on the bench,” he told reporters.
