PSG to renew Thiago, Verratti

Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly reached agreements to extend the contracts of both Thiago Silva and Marco Verratti.

Reports  earlier this month suggested the French were looking to increase Thiago Silva’s earnings to counter any possible financial bid from interested party Barcelona, who have been in pursuit this summer.

L’Equipe report today that an agreement has been reached to raise the 28-year-old’s earnings by around €2m to a total annual salary of €12m and to extend his deal by a further year through to June 2018.

On from this, it is also reported that young Italian playmaker Verratti has also similarly been handed a five-year contract to keep him at the Parc des Princes.

Believed a target for Real Madrid, the 20-year-old is reportedly in agreement to commit to PSG and, just a year into his career with the Ligue 1 outfit, more than double his wage from €850,000 to €2m.

PSG are also seen as in negotiations to hand Zlatan Ibrahimovic a new deal, to increase his salary from €14m a year to either €15m or €16m. Madrid had also been suggested as a possible destination for the Swede this summer.
