Morata: I’m ready to play more

Alvaro Morata has explained his preparedness and determination to work hard and with desire to play more this term at Real Madrid.

The Under-21 international managed a handful of appearances for the team last season and has been preparing for 2013-14 with the senior squad once more.

“Ancelotti has asked the younger players to work more than the others because we have to have more hunger,” explained Morata today at Madrid’s presentation of their new away kit.

“I have come not to take anyone’s place, I’m like a sponge absorbing everything that I see here.

“Would I feel disheartened if Madrid sign another striker this summer? If they sign another one I will have even more desire.

“I’m here to play and I am not 17 anymore, now I can be trusted, I’m ready to take on more minutes.

“I have always felt welcomed by the first team. I feel more confident, this summer has helped me gain more confidence and I want to do things right.”
