Madrid effort pleases Zidane

Zinedine Zidane reflected that whilst Real Madrid ‘have many things to improve’, the performance against Lyon shows the team’s preparations as good.

Los Blancos played out a 2-2 draw in France on Wednesday night, with Alvaro Morata and Casemiro netting the visitors’ late strikes.

“We did well to record a draw. It was hard physically because there was a difference in preparation levels between the two teams, but we managed the draw,” assistant Coach Zidane commented afterwards.

“It was a good game. Just 10 days ago we began training, this is our second game.

“Many things can be improved but this is normal, we are in the preparation phase.

“I see the team as good, preparing well. I’m happy.”
