Atleti eye Roberto, Bono

Atletico Madrid are negotiating to sign Real Zaragoza’s Roberto Jimenez and then immediately send him out on loan to Olympiacos.

Atleti have picked up Thibaut Courtois for a third successive season on loan from Chelsea, but are expected to almost certainly lose him back to the Premier League side for next summer.

On from selling Joel Robles to Everton and loaning Sergio Asenjo to Villarreal with a purchase option included, speculation has been on the club’s move for this term and for the future.

It is believed that they have decided on their former youth player and current Zaragoza vice-captain Roberto as a potential replacement for when Courtois leaves next year.

Reports in Spain this week are that they are in negotiations with Zaragoza for his signature and also with Olympiacos to then send the 27-year-old out to them on loan for 2013-14.

The Greek side have been seen as in contention to sign Roberto outright themselves this summer.

Meanwhile, Atleti are also thought to be looking at pushing Yassine Bounou, also known as Bono, up from the B team to act as cover for Courtois this coming year.
