Enrique: Barca? All just rumours

Luis Enrique has played down links with Barcelona as ‘just rumours’ insisting that his focus has remained on Celta Vigo.

The former Barca midfielder and B team Coach was linked over the weekend and up until yesterday with a possible approach from the Catalans to replace Tito Vilanova, who stepped down on Friday due to ill health.

However, in light of seeing Gerardo Martino confirmed in the role, the Celta Coach has offered his first comment on the situation.

“Everything with Barca was rumours,” Enrique told reporters at a Press conference today.

“We are preparing for preseason with Celta and are concentrated here.

“The working week has not been varied, the rumours are something that happen in football.

“I am focused on the reality of everyday life.

“I send a big hug to Tito, he is a fighter and we are all with him.”

The 43-year-old turned his attention back to his current side and the possibility of further work in the transfer market.

“We have a good squad and we can bring in people from the youth team.

“We are also always open to the possibilities of the market, but at this time there is no emergency.

“All the young players here have surprised me greatly.

“Our main goal for next season is survival. That would be a great success.”
