Abidal visits Barca training

Eric Abidal made a surprise appearance at Barcelona’s training facilities today, as the players returned to training on from Tito Vilanova’s departure.

After being hit on Friday evening with the news of Vilanova needing to step down as Coach due to ill health and seeing Saturday’s trip out to Poland to play Lechia Gdansk cancelled, Monday saw Barca’s players return to the training field.

Today’s session was overseen by assistant Coaches Jordi Roura and Rubi, just as the club reportedly close in on Gerardo Martino as the new tactician.

At the ground for Monday’s workout was former Barca man Abidal, who was released earlier this summer after six years at the club and is continuing his playing career next year with Monaco.

The Frenchman, who for the past two seasons battled serious illness to return to the profession, met with the 15 first team players to have started preseason for the Blaugrana today.
