Napoli join chase for Soldado

Napoli have become the latest club to be linked with a summer move for Valencia striker Roberto Soldado.

The Partenopei need a replacement for Edinson Cavani and can reinvest the €63m paid by Paris Saint-Germain.

Although this morning the Corriere dello Sport claimed there was a €35m deal with Real Madrid for Higuain, other sources have doubts over that move.

Internacional’s Leandro Damiao is another option for the Serie A side, but this afternoon Soldado has emerged as the latest candidate.

The 28-year-old Spain international has been a sensation at Los Che, scoring 30 goals in all competition last season.

“At the moment we have not received any formal offers for our striker, but there are many people who have asked us about his situation. I can’t say much more,” noted Valencia sporting director Braulio Vazquez on Friday.

Soldado has a £25.9m release clause on his contract and has already been linked with the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham.
