Kempes believes in Valencia

Mario Kempes has enthused at the strength and quality of Valencia’s current squad and asked fans to equally be optimistic for the new season.

The former Argentine international striker, who had two spells with Los Che in the 1970s and 1980s, has revealed his faith in Miroslav Djukic’s side heading into the new season.

“This is going to be a great year and the fans should be more than before behind the team,” Kempes enthused today.

“The club have serious people who want to work for and with the club. People must be positive and realise that this is a great squad.

“Djukic has shown that as a Coach he is capable. At Valladolid he was responsible for two excellent campaigns.

“For this reason I have great confidence in his work and that it will be a good season.

“Fans need to go to Mestalla this season, as the players want to feel supported at all times by them.”

Los Che will face Milan in 10 days’ time at Mestalla as part of the Guiness International Champions Cup.

“It will be a good test to see how the team is. The quality of the opponent is an incentive.”
