The Gazzetta dello Sport believe that Napoli are closing in on a deal to sign Real Madrid defender Raul Albiol.
The Spain international has been seen as surplus to requirements at the Santiago Bernabeu for next season and has reportedly attracted interest this summer from former side Valencia and Atletico Madrid.
However, it is believed that Rafa Benitez’s Napoli are in advanced talks to pick up the 27-year-old.
The Gazzetta dello Sport’s Tuesday edition is running the line that the Vesuviani, who have bought Jose Callejon from Madrid and are linked with Gonzalo Higuain also, are closing in on a €12m purchase agreement for Albiol.
It is believed that the player will sign a four-year contract, although wage levels are not yet known.
