PSG considering Valdano

Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly considering replacing outgoing sporting director Leonardo with former Real Madrid man Jorge Valdano.

Valdano has been out of work since leaving his role as general manager at the Santiago Bernabeu in May 2011, after a difficult relationship with then Coach Jose Mourinho.

PSG are reportedly ready to bring the former striker back into the game this summer, by appointing him as sporting director.

Serving sporting director Leonardo is set to leave the Parc des Princes at the end of the current transfer window, in light of receiving an extensive ban from French football authorities for confronting a referee during Ligue 1 action last season.

The French side’s President Nasser Al-Khelaifi is reported by Le Parisien today as keen to bring in a replacement for the Brazilian who holds international standing in the game and is seen as considering Valdano as a candidate.

The Argentine is reportedly in contention for the role alongside Claude Makelele and the club’s current CEO Jean Claude Blanc.
