Valencia snub Gago loan attempt

Valencia have snubbed an attempt by midfielder Fernando Gago’s agent to force a loan move for his client to Boca Juniors.

Diego Marino visited Valencia’s offices this week with the hope of reaching a loan agreement for the 23-year-old to return to the club where he shot to fame.

However, reports in Spain say the Los Che hierarchy were in no mood to grant his wish and he was told the player would only be allowed to depart Mestalla for Boca, or any other team, if an offer of more than €2m was received.

Valencia President Amadeo Salvo is adamant he will not let Argentine international Gago go on the cheap, despite him not being part of new boss Miroslav Djukic’s plans for the 2013-14 campaign.

Salvo insists he wants to recover most of the reported €3.5m fee Valencia paid Real Madrid for the player, who was loaned out to Velez Sarsfield for part of last season, when he arrived in July 2012.
