Marcelino Garcia Toral has made clear that he wants his Villarreal team to be competitive and ready to use ball possession effectively next season.
The Yellow Submarine are back in the top flight after a season away and today began preseason training.
“I want the team to be competitive, reliable and take possession of the ball,” Marcelino explained to reporters today.
“If we are to achieve our goal, we will win a lot of games. When we have finished working on the squad, we will assess how to play.
“The players will have to feel comfortable in the field and as a collective move the ball quickly. There will be times when within five passes we should be able to reach the goal.
“If we are credible in initiating play then we will do and if we do not then we will put the result at risk.
“We start preseason with the utmost enthusiasm for having a good season in the Primera.
“We are going to take the required steps we need to take in order to reach the first game of the season in the best possible condition.”
