Villarreal have confirmed the signing of defender Aleksandar Pantic from Red Star Belgrade.
A statement on the club’s official website revealed the 21-year-old had signed a three-year contract with the Yellow Submarine for an undisclosed fee.
Pantic began his professional career with FK Rad and made his full debut in May 2011 in a Serbian Superliga match against Javor Ivanjica.
After an impressive first season he was then snapped up by Red Star and continued his fine form last term under Robert Prosenicki, making 13 League appearances as the Belgrade outfit finished runners-up.
Pantic has also made his name with the Serbian Under-21 team, whom he has represented 12 times, although he is yet to earn a full call up to the senior side.
While technically a right-back, Pantic can also operate as a central defender and is recognised as a good reader of the game with great positional sense.
