Marin: I want to be a leader

Marko Marin has enthused at his loan move to Sevilla and emphasised the ambition he has to make the most of his year in Spain.

The German-capped 24-year-old agreed to move across to the Andalucians last week on a season-long loan from Chelsea, after a difficult first year in London.

On from passing his medical and finalising the move, the attacking midfielder faced the media.

“I come here with more ambition than when I signed for Chelsea,” Marin explained to reporters at his presentation today.

“Sevilla is a club of tradition that I have come to for the new season with the hope of helping them return to a position in the League that they occupied not so many years ago.

“I hope to take on the role of a leader. After talking with [sporting director Monchi] and [Sevilla midfielder] Ivan Rakitic, who is also a leader in the team, I have understood the project and the philosophy of this club.

“Was I recommended to Sevilla by Jose Mourinho? This has not happened, but I have spoken to many player that have spoken of La Liga as one of the best, so I want to show my value here.”
