Malaga defender Martin Demichelis will decide this week whether to accept a new contract from the club, or leave to join River Plate.
The Argentine centre-back is currently unattached after his deal with the Boquerones expired at the weekend.
Bernd Schuster’s men have reportedly offered the 32-year-old a new three-year deal with the club, but according to El Desmarque, the player is still undecided over his future.
River Plate are said to be extremely keen on bringing Demichelis back to Estadio Monumental, the club he left as a 23-year-old to join Bayern Munich.
