Neymar: We made people happy

Brazil striker Neymar insisted his team had made a lot of people very happy following the 3-0 Confederations Cup final win over Spain.

The new Barcelona man produced a stunning performance to help his country lift the trophy inside the Maracana Stadium and was also quick to praise his teammates afterwards.

“We have achieved something everyone thought was impossible but we proved that anything is possible. The team played fantastically well, better than people expected, and we’ve made a lot of people very happy,” said Neymar, who received the Golden Ball award after being voted best player of the tournament.

Meanwhile, defender David Luiz had some words of consolation for the beaten World Cup and European Championship holders.

“People now know what we are capable of but they must also recognise what a great team Spain is.

“None of us would ever have dreamed we would beat the current world champions 3-0, but we showed we had technique, class and talent. It was perfect,” he told reporters.
