Higuain ‘too costly for Juve’

Gonzalo Higuain’s future looks set be a transfer to Arsenal, after his brother and agent confirmed that Juventus were priced out of the Real Madrid man.

The Argentine, who revealed on the final day of last season his intention to leave the Santiago Bernabeu this summer, was largely seen as the subject of bids from Arsenal and Juventus.

However, it appears that the Premier League side are in pole position, with the Bianconeri having also turned their attention to Manchester City’s Carlos Tevez.

The Gunners are rumoured to have offered a single cash payment of €30m for the Argentine international, against Juve’s €22m payment spread across installements.

“I think that Higuain is now closer to Arsenal,” the 25-year-old’s brother and agent Nicolas Higuain told TMW today.

“Juventus are a great club, but Gonzalo is too expensive for them.”

Napoli were rumoured to be showing late interest in the player in light of speculation that Edinson Cavani will leave them.

“Napoli are a strong side and that place represents a lot for Argentines.

“Saying that, I can’t deny that Gonzalo is now close to Arsenal.”
