Ancelotti: Goal is to be the best

Carlo Ancelotti says he intends for Real Madrid ‘to be the best’ and that he welcomes the pressure that will come with the job.

The Italian was today officially presented to the media as Madrid’s new Coach, having agreed a three-year contract.

Facing a number of questions from reporters, inevitably the subject of La Decima, the 10th European Cup Madrid are aiming to win, was brought up.

“I have the ambition and responsibility of winning La Decima,” responded Ancelotti today.

“Every year the Coach has that responsibility. It’s a great motivation that can help you do a great job.

“The Coach’s job is to be under pressure. The pressure is normal, the problem is managing it. I want to work with pressure.

“To be here is a dream that has been fulfilled, because this club represents a great history and tradition in football.

“The goal here is to be the best. I want to give the best of myself with professionalism and effort, and help the team to win major trophies next season.”

the Italian was asked what philosophy of play he intends to bring to the Santiago Bernabeu.

“Being in control, a good attack and a good balance. We have to play an attacking style of football, of course, and we will need quality, and this team has a lot of quality in midfield, so I do not think it will be difficult to organise attacking football through good possession.

“Transfers? The squad is very good. In the coming days we will talk about what is necessary.”
