Monreal backs Isco at Madrid

Nacho Monreal has determined that Isco will be a ‘definite success’ at Real Madrid, as he reflects on leaving Malaga for Arsenal.

Isco is reportedly in agreement to leave the Anchovies for the Spanish capital this summer and his former teammate at Malaga is backing him to continue his rise in the game.

“Will Isco be a success? Definitely,” reflected Monreal in conversation with Marca.

“Isco will be a success wherever he goes. He's a great player.

“It might take him a little time to adapt, but he'll have his chances eventually and will make the most of them.”

Monreal recently left Malaga himself to become one of the increasing number of Spanish players in the Premier League, when he signed for Arsenal on the final day of the January transfer window.

“Was the move a culture shock? It wasn't, actually, because I didn't really have time to dwell on it.

“It happened overnight. On January 31 I was training with Malaga, and then on February 1 I was at Arsenal.

“Now, three-and-a-half months on, I can say that I made the right decision. People have been good to me from the moment I got here and it's a huge club.

“They treat you great and you never want for anything.”

A number of Monreal’s former teammates are expected to leave La Rosaleda this summer.

“I’m watching the events unfold with a mixture of nostalgia and sadness at the club's situation.

“I wish them the best. I have really fond memories of Malaga.

“I was very happy in the city and the people treated me fantastically.”
