Atletico Madrid have confirmed that goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois will stay at the club for another season.
The Belgian shot-stopper has been on loan at the capital club from Chelsea for the past two campaigns, but with Jose Mourinho coming in at Stamford Bridge, it was unclear whether the 21-year-old would be recalled by the Premier League club or not.
However, Diego Simeone’s men have today confirmed that Courtois will still be at Vicente Calderon for the 2013/14 season.
“I am very happy,” he told the club’s official website. “This is what I wanted.
“I’ve always said I wanted to continue here next season.”
