‘We don’t need to sell Negredo’

Jose Maria del Nido has affirmed that Sevilla have no ‘budgetary requirement’ forcing them to sell Alvaro Negredo this summer.

It was believed that the club needed to raise funds during this coming transfer market to help service a €50m debt.

However, Jesus Navas’ sale to Manchester City, said to be worth as much as €23m, Antonio Luna’s €2m switch to Aston Villa and Luis Alberto’s imminent transfer to Liverpool for an initial €8.5m have seemingly eased the pressure.

“Whoever wants Negredo is going to have to pay for what he is,” Del Nido told reporters this week in reference to the Atletico Madrid, Napoli and Borussia Dortmund target.

“Now we have no budgetary requirement that forces us to sell, so for Negredo, he will only leave if an important offer arrives.

“Today I see his departure as far away.”
