Karanka between Chelsea, Dubai

Real Madrid assistant Coach Aitor Karanka is once more being linked with a reunion with Jose Mourinho, as he is expected to leave Los Blancos.

The former defender worked for three years at the Santiago Bernabeu as Mourinho’s deputy, but has seen his position at the club come under speculation this summer in light of the Portuguese’ departure to return to Chelsea.

Previously linked with following the 50-year-old to Stamford Bridge and then conversely with staying in a coaching position at Madrid for the final three years of his contract, Karanka was then thought to be keen to go it alone elsewhere.

Today he is speculated as set between two choices. Marca and AS both run the line that the 39-year-old has been handed a lucrative offer to start his career as a head Coach in UAE next season.

However, this is matched with Mourinho’s return to once more try and persuade Karanka to follow him to the Premier League.

It is understood, though, that whilst it presents the Coach’s future as still up in the air, it is almost certain that he will not retain his position with Madrid, in light of Zinedine Zidane’s reported desire to take it up for next season.
