Isco confirms City, Madrid offers

Malaga’s Isco has confirmed that both Manchester City and Real Madrid have put forward proposals for his signature this summer.

The youngster’s strong season at club level, coupled with Malaga’s change in transfer philosophy, has expectation that he will be sold this summer.

Both City and Madrid have been increasingly linked with making moves this summer and as the 21-year-old reflected in how his performances with Spain at the UEFA Under-21 Championship are catching the eye, both sides have presented offers.

“It is clear that if you do things well then you may have more eyes on you, but that is the case with every player,” began Isco in conversation with AS.

“That is with Thiago, or Morata, or many of my teammates who are doing a great job. We are all offering a very high individual performance and that has allowed us to reach the final.

“Specifically interest from Madrid and City? Well, yes, there are two proposals on the table. I hope to decide soon because I have a contract with Malaga.

“It is clear that both Manchester City and Real Madrid are great clubs. I want this to end as well as possible for me and for Malaga.

“Are the two offers real? They are on the table, yes.”

It is rumoured that Manuel Pellegrini has tried to convince Isco to follow him from La Rosaleda to Eastlands.

“No I have not talked with him. I heard of the news of his move on the internet, when it happened, but he did not call me.

“He is a great Coach and I hope he does well in England. He has done an impressive job with Malaga as he has done with previous clubs and surely he will do so there too.

“Will his presence affect my decision? It is true that I already know Pellegrini, I know how he works and he has been instrumental in my career so far, in the two years I have been with him at Malaga.

“It’s a plus that we have worked together before, but nothing is definitive.”

The attacking midfielder has been a notable performer so far for La Rojita in their summer run to the final of the European Under-21 Championship in Israel, where they will face Italy on Tuesday.

“I am excited. Italy are going to make things difficult because they are a very competitive team, but we know what to do. We must continue as usual and we are very confident of our chances.

“I’m happy that things are going very well, collectively and individually, but mostly as we are in the final of the European Championship and that is the most important thing, regardless of how we are playing.

“The Euros is a very nice competition and for me things are really working out, that is true. I feel good because I can help the team.

“Here is a fantastic group and now the most important and most beautiful thing is to play and win the final.

“Do I want to be MVP at the tournament? I’m not going to lie, it’s a very nice individual goal, but I say that the title is the most important thing.

“I want to continue helping my teammates and accomplishing the MVP or not is secondary to me. We know that the group is above everything.”
