Victor Valdes has reiterated his decision not to renew his contract at Barcelona and says he is happy to stay another year.
The Spain international has been with La Blaugrana his entire career and put clubs around Europe on alert five months ago when he revealed he wanted to experience life at a different club.
“Nothing has changed and it’s the same as I said in January,” confirmed Valdes to reporters in Brazil, where he is representing La Roja in the Confederations Cup.
“I said then that I wasn’t going to sign a new deal and I thank Barcelona for their proposal of a renovation.
“However, there is still another year left on my contract and I’m very happy about that.”
Valdes then became the latest in a long line people connected with Barcelona to be asked their views on the arrival of new signing Neymar.
“Barca must continue to sign the best players in the world and I’m looking forward to sharing a dressing room with him.
“We are going to welcome him with open arms. He’ll learn good things and will help Barca to carry on being a champion team,” declared Valdes.
