Sevilla closing in on Ari

Russian newspaper Izvestia reports that Sevilla are on the verge of signing Spartak Moscow striker Ari.

The Brazilian’s contract with the Russians expires at the end of this month and it is understood he has refused the offer of a new one.

According to Izvestia, the 27-year-old has already given his word to Sevilla despite reported interest from Turkey, France and Ukraine.

The Andalusians, who are still struggling financially despite the sale of Jesus Navas to Manchester City, are set to offload Alvaro Negredo to ease their debt and see Ari as an ideal replacement.

Ari, real name Ariclenes da Silva Ferreira, joined Spartak from AZ Alkmaar in February 2012 and has notched 21 goals in 89 League appearances for the Russians.

Current Sevilla boss Unai Emery worked with the player in his time at Spartak and has been instrumental in luring him to the Sanchez Pizjuan.
