Benfica deny Eliseu contact

Benfica have denied being in contact with Malaga regarding winger Eliseu.

The Portuguese international intimated on Friday that he was seeking talks over his future at La Rosaleda and reiterated his previously-stated desire to return to his native country with Benfica.

However, the Lisbon giants have denied via a statement on their official website that there has been any communication between themselves and Eliseu, whilst also refuting suggestions that Oscar Cardozo was about to leave the club.

“We would like to inform you that Oscar Cardozo is a Benfica player and at this time there has been no contact with any other club about him, nor has there been contact with Eliseu,” it read.

Still, it is believed that Benfica’s interest in Eliseu is real and, although contact has been denied, they will wait to see if the 29-year-old Azores-born footballer is one of new Malaga boss Bernd Schuster’s priorities for next season.
