Schuster confirmed, Pellegrini free?

Malaga have confirmed the appointment of Bernd Schuster as Coach on a five year deal, seemingly confirming Manuel Pellegrini’s release to Manchester City.

The Costa del Sol outfit were believed to have reached an agreement earlier this week with former Real Madrid Coach Schuster to come in as Pellegrini’s replacement.

However, a believed contractual dispute with Pellegrini had delayed both the Chilean’s exit and subsequent appointment at Manchester City, and Malaga being able to name Schuster as the new Coach.

In having now confirmed via an official statement on their website Schuster’s appointment, the indications are that Malaga have resolved the issue with Pellegrini too.

“Malaga and Bernd Schuster have reached an agreement for the German Coach to join the club,” read Malaga’s posting on Friday afternoon.

“The Andalucian club trusts the German Coach to develop a sound long-term project, so he has signed for the next five seasons.

“Schuster, backed by his extensive background as a player and Coach, joins Malaga having worked with, among others, Real Madrid, Shakhtar Donetsk, Besiktas, Getafe, Levante.

“He will be presented as the new Coach next week.”
