Malaga purchase Antunes

Malaga have exercised their purchase option for Vitorino Antunes, after the full-back’s six-month loan spell at La Rosaleda.

Antunes arrived at the club in January as a late replacement for Nacho Monreal, in a short-term temporary deal from Pacos de Ferreira and went on to make 11 League appearances as well as feature in the Champions League.

The Costa del Sol outfit have confirmed this week that they have decided to make the 26-year-old’s switch permanent by activating a purchase option available to them.

It was a good decision for me to stay on at Malaga, giving me the possibility to play in a big League,” Antunes told Malaga’s official website, having signed a four-year contract.

“I’ve had an incredible experience so far and Malaga had a fantastic season last year. As a player, you couldn’t ask for more.

“I’ve got a lot of faith in the team for next season, particularly as expectations are so high.

“From a personal point of view, I’d like to perform better next year, as I believe I’ve got a lot more to offer Malaga CF, and I want to do as much as I can for the team.”
