David Silva has welcomed Manchester City’s signing of Jesus Navas, calling his Spanish international teammate a “great player”.
Navas, 27, joined the Sky Blues from Sevilla this week in a deal thought to be worth an initial fee of around €23m , although it is not expected to be fully rubber-stamped until Spain return from this month’s Confederation Cup in Brazil.
However, speaking at his country’s training camp ahead of pre-tournament friendlies with Haiti in Miami and the Republic of Ireland in New York, Silva said he is delighted to be linking up with the winger at the Etihad Stadium.
“Navas has now reached a mature age and he is a great player who will be very good for us. I am very happy to have him as a teammate,” said the former Valencia man.
