Benfica eye Insua, but…

Benfica are said to hold an interest in Atletico Madrid full-back Emiliano Insua, although a clause may block any move.

The Argentine signed for Atleti just six months ago from Sporting CP, during the winter transfer window.

However, in light of Filipe Luis’ form ahead of him, the 24-year-old has seen limited playing time.

It is a situation that has both Los Colchoneros and the player open to a transfer out, and Benfica are seemingly first in line.

Insua is reported by A Bola to be the Portuguese side’s primary objective at full-back, at the express request of Coach Jorge Jesus.

However, a stumbling block apparently comes in the form of a penalty clause inserted into Insua’s deal to join Atletico. If he were to return to Portugal to play for another team, Sporting can reportedly claim a payment of €10m.
