Andres Iniesta is enthusiastic at the prospect that Victor Valdes would be prepared to stay on at the club for next season.
The goalkeeper has made clear that he will not be renewing his contract at the Camp Nou beyond its June 2014 expiry, prompting speculation that both he and the club would look for a transfer this summer.
However, the ‘keeper has indicated his willingness to stay on for the final year of his deal and his midfield teammate has welcomed that.
“If he were to stay to the end of his contract, as a teammate and friend, that would be the best news for next season,” Iniesta reflected to Revista Minuto 116’s latest issue.
“In completing his contract, I can then only wish him the best of luck.
“If he stays to see out the deal then there will be no problems because he will give 200 per cent to this team until the last day.”
